The 4 C’s of Diamonds

You will note that to the right of the revolving diamonds are four links signifying the 4C’s (Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat Weight). Follow the links for explanations and videos of each of the four aspects of diamonds.

Our team is committed to building customer relationships that extend beyond the purchase.

Diamond Cuts and Shapes

Diamonds are renowned for their ability to transmit light and sparkle so intensely. We often think of a diamond’s cut as a shape (round and fancy cut diamonds), but a diamond’s cut grade is really about how well a diamond’s facets interact with light. Precise artistry and craft are required to fashion a stone, so its proportions, symmetry, and polish deliver the glorious return of light only possible in a diamond. See below for the classic diamond shapes.

Laboratory Grown Diamonds (HPHT) (CVD)

Sullivan’s S&S Jewelers, along with our natural earth diamonds, now offers GIA, IGI, GCAL Laboratory Grown Diamonds.  Lab Grown Diamonds are man made by simulating natural conditions of extreme heat and pressure or chemical vapor deposition.  Both mined and created diamonds are identical in chemical, optical and physical composition.  The growing process utilizes advanced scientific knowledge and sophisticated technology to recreate conditions similar to nature’s force exerted over a billion years approximately 100 miles underground.  They have the same carbon atom crystal structure as natural diamonds, which gives them the same superior hardness and spectacular beauty.  Lab Grown Diamonds are graded with the same standards certifications from Gem Certification and Assurance Lab as mined diamonds.  S&S has seen a growing interest and acceptance of Lab grown diamonds as an attractively priced center stone option.
